Madam Rosalia Assey
Teacher at Mnini School
“A beloved teacher with 15 years of dedication to the children of Mnini School.”
About Madam Rosalia Assey
Madam Rosalia Assey has spent more than fifteen years teaching at Mnini Primary School. Her students call her "Mama Rosalia" with affection—a title she has earned through patience, dedication, and an unwavering belief in every child who enters her classroom.
She grew up in Moshi, the daughter of farmers who sacrificed everything to send her to teacher training college. Rosalia returned to her community determined to give back, taking a position at Mnini School when it had few resources and even fewer books.
Over the years, she has watched the school transform through community support and partnerships with organizations like The Uweza Foundation. Where once there were bare walls and shared pencils, there are now exercise books for every student and learning materials that bring lessons to life.
Rosalia is known for arriving early and staying late. She tutors struggling students during lunch, visits families on weekends, and advocates tirelessly for the children in her care. Her classroom is a place where every child feels seen.
Beyond her own students, Rosalia mentors younger teachers throughout the district. She leads workshops on teaching methods, shares resources, and encourages her colleagues to believe that every child can succeed with the right support.
Now in her fifties, Rosalia shows no signs of slowing down. She has educated hundreds of children, many of whom return to visit and thank her for believing in them. Her legacy is written in the lives of the students she has shaped.
