Amina's Story

Amina was 12 years old when she first came to the foundation. Her family could barely afford to send her to school, and many in her village believed that girls should stay home to help with chores rather than pursue education.

"When I first met Esther, she looked at me and said, 'You have bright eyes. Those eyes are meant to read books.' Nobody had ever said anything like that to me before."

With the foundation's support, Amina received school fees, uniforms, books, and most importantly—a community that believed in her potential. She began attending after-school tutoring sessions and quickly rose to the top of her class.

"The hardest part was convincing my father. He thought I should help my mother sell vegetables in the market. But when he saw my report card, when he saw that I was first in my class, he started to believe too."

Now 16, Amina dreams of becoming a doctor. She wants to return to Moshi after medical school and open a clinic in her village.

"I want to show every girl in my village that it's possible. That education is not just for boys. That we can dream big and achieve those dreams."
